Senior Story: Clary is graduating from UCCS!

Clary wears a white UCCS shirt and has her arm around Clyde, the UCCS mountain lion mascot.

Meet Clary, who will earn her Comprehensive Higher Education Certificate from UCCS in Early Childhood Education. She chose this area of study because she wants to work in an elementary school. While in college, Clary learned important job skills at the on-campus rec center, where she greeted people as they walked in and cleaned equipment. She then transitioned to the Family Development Center, UCCS's childcare center, where she has worked with preschool students since her sophomore year. This experience has reaffirmed Clary's desire to work with kids, which she hopes to do immediately after graduation by getting a job at a summer camp.

Of her first days on campus, Clary says, "I did not know anybody, and I cried when my family dropped me off. I had to get out of my comfort zone and get out of my apartment. I needed a ton of help, and I was so overwhelmed and home sick, but I got out of it!" Clary's story proves that, while the transition was challenging, going to college was worth it! As Clary reflects on all the growth she has made, she shares how proud of herself she is. We couldn't agree more, and we are so excited to see what Clary's future has in store!

Clary's Experience
