Schuyler's Experience

  • School: Regis
  • Area of Study: Writing
  • Favorite Part of College: I get to meet a whole lot of people, I get to make friends, and I get to learn a whole lot about myself!
  • Internships During College: I worked at Blue Star Recyclers. It was fun! I got to recycle electronic bits and sort things out. I was able to really learn my likes and dislikes in jobs.
  • Plans After Graduation: Getting a stable job and income and probably living on my own. I feel like that's probably one of the most difficult things in your life, because when you move out of your parents' house, it's like having wings fly up. But you don't want to go too high or else some things can get complicated! When you are soaring up into the sky, you want to maintain that rise or maintain a certain peak and go straight. I feel like it's important to really learn how to maintain your work schedule with your personal schedule.

Schuyler's Words of Wisdom

  • What has the opportunity to go to college meant for you?: The opportunity of going to college is to help you explore who you are or who you want to become later on in your life’s journey and taking the next steps by taking people’s advice and understanding that everyone changes. College has meant growth. It has meant getting to have higher education and knowing what that is like. It's more about testing your knowledge to real-world scenarios. I now have much more opportunities to meet job standards, and I feel like that is really the foundation of how you get to the door.
  • What did you learn about yourself during college?: I like to learn more about myself and test out what I am good at doing. I also learned that that everyone, even you, changes. I also learned about my roots. It's important to know where you came from in the world, and that question kept coming up in my philosophy class my first year.
  • What advice do you have for incoming freshmen?: Don’t do anything stupid like skipping class for no good reasons. College is fun and you get to meet a whole lot of people who are mostly friendly and nice. Be yourself and excel! Be open, be thoughtful, and really want to understand who you are or what you want to do overall in your life. Whatever career path you choose, you will find others, but it's always good to have an open mind when other careers pop up.
