Meet Sydney, a soon-to-be graduate of UNC GOAL. Sydney will earn her Comprehensive Higher Education Certificate in Human Resources & Management, a field she chose because she wants "to become an office professional." While in college, Sydney held a variety of jobs and internships in the Human Resources space. A recent one was with the City of Longmont, where she helped with the background check process for city volunteers.
In high school, Sydney was fortunate to experience academic and social inclusion, so she expected the same in higher ed. She is grateful for how inclusive her college experience was, though she had to learn how to advocate for herself. Sydney says self-advocacy was not something she had much practice with in high school, and she is glad she learned this skill! We are so proud of all the ways Sydney has grown throughout her 4 years on campus, and we can't wait to follow along with her bright future!

Sydney's Words of Wisdom
- What has the opportunity to go to college meant for you?: It means I can still go to normal college classes but be part of people with intellectual disabilities
- What did you learn about yourself during college?: Being more independent by living in the dorms and doing more advocacy for myself
- What advice do you have for incoming freshmen?: Before you start your classes, walk around campus and find all your classrooms! Go to office hours to talk about upcoming assignments. If you can choose where you live on campus, take a look at the options online to learn more about the dorms.
