Student Story: Meet Chloe at ACC!

Meet Chloe, a sophomore at Arapahoe Community College (ACC)! Before enrolling in Elevate, Chloe joined IN!'s college mentorship program to learn more about her college options. At that time, she wasn't sure whether she wanted to go college, because it seemed "scary." Ultimately, Chloe took a brave leap of faith and decided to enroll! The deciding factor for her to give college a try was that she wanted to "meet new friends...[and] check out fun events at the school."

While Chloe explores what she wants to choose as her official area of study, she has taken courses in art, literature, communications, and more. Exposure to many subjects has helped Chloe learn more about her interests and career goals. Currently, she is leaning towards identifying her area of study as Theater, which aligns with her dream job of working at the Temple Buell Theater in Denver!

Chloe is proud to share that she's doing well in her classes this semester and "getting good grades." Despite experiencing some academic challenges, specifically with college-level reading and writing, Chloe continues to stay on track with support from her Elevate peer mentors and staff. Socially, she is meeting new friends, and trying the Pokémon club.

For Chloe, being included in college makes her "feel happy!" She has stepped out of her comfort zone, including "going out to lunch with people." Chloe describes college as "fun," adding, "you meet new people. You have fun classes and do fun clubs and fun events!" It's clear that Chloe is enjoying her college experience to its fullest!
